Minecraft 1.2.5 was released today however for once they also released an update for Bukkit (our server software) meaning that there won't be a long wait, or any wait at all for that matter.

Update your client and hop on the server!

These are the stock minecraft.jar that can be used to downgrade your client if you should accidentally upgrade to a version unsupported by KoolSource.

Instructions:
Macintosh (OSX):

• Open a new finder window.
  
• Press Command + Shift + G to open a new Go to the folder: window.
  
• Type ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/bin/ into the box and click Go
  
• Put the minecraft.jar file you have just downloaded into the folder you have just opened.

Microsoft Windows

• Press Windows symbol + R to open a Run dialog.
  
• Type %AppData%/.minecraft/bin into the box and click Run this will open an explorer window.
  
• Put the minecraft.jar file you have just downloaded into the folder you have just opened.

Linux (Most distrobutions)

• Open a File Browser window.
  
• Go to ~/.minecraft/bin
  
• Put the minecraft.jar file you have just downloaded into the folder you have just opened.

Linking your Minecraft account to your website account up to this point has been quite insecure in the respect that anyone could link their Forum account to your Minecraft account.

In the near future we are going to be removing this system in favor of a much more secure system that will guarantee that only the owner of a Minecraft account can link it to their forum account.

Now, you might be asking yourself -- What does it matter if someone can link their Minecraft account to their forum profile?

Right now this seems to be a moot point, however in the very near future we are going to be releasing a revamped Web Auction, one that will not require a secondary login and one that will be fully integrated into the our website. In order to do this securely we must use this extra step of verification; otherwise anyone could simply take your items from you -- that wouldn't be very nice, would it?

This way of linking accounts also ensures that there is only one Minecraft account for every one forum account -- this will eliminate the issue of people registering twice and therefore not receiving the rank that they earned / purchased.

If you have any questions / concerns about this system or would like to suggest a better way of doing this, please feel free to post below.

For the time being new registrants will still be able to use the old system of just entering their Minecraft username in the registration form. However if you forgot to enter your Minecraft username during registration you must use the above verification system to link your account.
