Koolsource /rules

Posted by TheInfamousBug on 27 September 2011 - 08:59 AM

I love the addition of the /rules command for the server, as well as the /news command. However, I do have a suggestion to change it a little:

Rules command:

Rule 1: Add in moderators in blue to that, as well. When no admins are on, it would be nice for them to be noted as other "know best" people.
Rule 3: Don't mention any forms of modded clients - This would give people ideas to use them - Just mention "No modded clients that assist you in any way" which should be acceptable in my head.
Rule 5: Uhm... I should be banned by now. I look at everyone's house in Amanda's town... Heh... >.> (Complete side note)
Rule 7: Mention no swearing as well. That is normally enforced, but isn't noted. Should be added.

News command:

I think maybe making references to new forum posts here would be wonderful. Maybe every week, highlight something going on, be it minecraft news, forum news, or such. Would make it interesting. Maybe have a contest every week in the news here, which would encourage people to check the news post, too. Just a suggestion. You could give away Koolsource points for the store, items, or maybe VIP+ for a month or whatnot. Would be fun.

Just a few suggestions for all that ^.^

I have taken your suggestions into consideration and come up with a new draft of the /rules.

&4#1 &f- &aListen to the &cAdmins&a and &9Moderators&a, they know best.
&4#2 &f- &aNo Griefing! - you will be banned!
&4#3 &f- &aNo modified clients that give you an unfair advantage.
&4#4 &f- &aDo NOT modify others work, if you wish to help, ask.
&4#5 &f- &aDo NOT enter private property if requested by owner.
&4#6 &f- &aOnly English is to be spoken in global chat.
&4#7 &f- &aPlease keep profanity to a minimum.
&4#8 &f- &aNo spamming, flaming, trolling or being an idiot, PERIOD.
&4#9 &f- &aFull list of rules and other help @ &cwiki.koolsource.com

I can't be bothered to take out the formatting, im sure you can read it.

As for your news suggestions i'll speak with john and see what we can do, im sure we can whip something up.

We will be doing contests soon, and that is going to be one of the main uses for KsC, prizes. We will eventually find more things you can do with your KsC other than minecraft stuffs.

I also have a copy of minecraft to give away :D.

Thank you for your suggestions.

Definitely like the changes. Looks and reads better to me, too. And yes, I can read the formatting - I've done my fair share of color codes, hex, and HTML in the past. Granted, it's been years /ROFL

And yay for contests! Speaking of that - With your permission, is it possible to run my own contests and possibly get some help with advertising them, be it in the news or frontpage or something? ^.^;;

I would need more details about the contests.

I would need more details about the contests.

I'm debating on doing a pool lottery drawing. At the beginning of each week, people may post how much they're willing to bid in terms of items. Each item will have a different price associated with a bid. Things like Iron Ingots, Gold Ingots, Diamonds, as well as rare blocks, such as Pumpkins, Melons, or such will be eligible. Every donation gives you a set amount of "Points" towards the raffle. When the drawing occurs, each person will be given a range of numbers (IE: 1-4 next person gets 5-12, next gets 13-14 or such) for the number of points they have. A random number generator will give a random number and the winner gets all raffled items plus a bonus that I throw in, such as (for example) a Gold Block or 20 Seeds of your choice or some such (Perhaps their choice of what they want in the end). It would be both in a forum thread (In case I'm not online to get the items on hold) as well as in-game on signs I'll have in a locked off area so you can see what the totals and items currently are, as well as prizes.

I was thinking weekly, but perhaps monthly or such would be better, depending on your opinions. I'd be willing to hear thoughts, opinions, and feedback on your thoughts to this, or if the gaggle of admins want to discuss this idea, I fully understand, as I myself am not an admin and players and yourselves may not feel that I should hold onto such items for lengths of time for either trust issues or some such. But I do feel confident I could handle this if you allow it or any variation thereof.

In addition, I do want to see if I can organize a community build project in the future, such as a "Full scale" build of something, like either a spaceship near Spawn (Flying towards spawn) or perhaps something else, like a large tower with a pseudo-planned layout somewhere in the world (That could take you to the Skylands if so chosen). One Idea I am in the planning stages of is a community build floor-based tower. Each floor will be a set number of squares wide and high, and each person would be given a floor to work on (Sealed off so no one sees the work and can't copy it) and once the whole tower is complete, we open all the floors and take a look at the unique building styles of each floor. It would be an awesome project to start up for community involvement and give Koolsource a way to stand out a bit in terms of involvement. However, that's veering off the contests and into the realm of other things - But I do feel it is valid point to make here, as if it does go on, I'd ask for the Admin's help in advertising these events/contests in order to raise awareness and get the "Seal of approval" so that people are more willing to jump in on this.

Thanks for the help in whatever way possible ^.^
