If you think that it should be flat, what height do you think the stone/dirt should come up to?

I would say start the dirt/stone at around 20 or 30. Since most of the creations would be above ground, I figure that at least 20 or 30 blocks would be more than enough to hide redstone circuits if a structure called for it.

Sounds good if the vote comes up for flat. Gives us more room to build large structures. :D

To be fair and honest, why not do both? I figure you'll have the admin powers you have on the normal server - Why not make the dirt/stone layer up to level 30~ish or so, then at spawn, you can go one direction to a flat terrain area, or go right to a natural creation. It wouldn't be bad to have a few moutains pre-created here and there for those that want to have rocky fortresses, or have a natural feel to their place, instead of having to spend time terraforming. It would make it more interesting, too, in my opinion, to have to work around it, giving it a feeling of accomplishment, much like in the normal server.

I don't know for sure but i don't think it is possible to generate a world such as this, but i shall certainly look into it.

There's one listed as a "Chunk generator." If I'm not mistaken (I could very well be), couldn't you run that as the primary plugin and explore outward in one direction, then load a different chunk generator and disable the first, explore the opposite direction, and put the spawn between the two? Or is that impossible and/or overly too complex? o.O

/just curious

I don't think what your suggesting is possible, I'd love it to be possible and we'll have to see what we can do, but the way that these world generators work is they override the world generator built into minecraft with a custom one that makes the chunk on the fly when you explore into it. You, as far as i know, can only have one chunk generator for a world.

Well, how about, generate a normal world, then use the super pic, with changed values to cut down a large area quickly? Or would this crash the server?

Anyways, much easier to to make flat land yourself than to make a mountains. :D

Callum recommended manually flattening out part of the world using the 'flatten' tool in world edit :P

the problem with "exploring" is that we don't want space generated that isn't being used as it is a waste of resources.

Just make it normal and then if someone wants a flat bit, have them make a post in a specific thread and "apply" for an admin to come flatten a space and have it marked out like we have them mark out cuboids. Maybe?

I voted normal... because there was nothing wrong with the shovel in the first place Posted Image

No but in all honesty, I really would like to see some of the new biomes and features that are coming in 1.8 (namely rivers). Might not matter if the creative world is coming up before the patch though.

There will be a new survival world just for 1.8, so don't worry about that :D.

Well I already figured that :P but just thought I'd throw it out there xD
I'd be willing to do it if you'd like, it can't be that much harder than setting cuboids, right?

@RagingRican - What Dean said, we're having two new worlds when 1.8 comes out that will use the new terrain generator =)

We have a creative world that we can enable right now, and its flat, and we will switchover to 1.8 creative mode when possible, but if we're going to have it "normal" and not flat, then we will have to wait until 1.8 instead for the new terrain generator.
