Hello fellow KoolSourcers

As an attempt to keep our community members as informed as possible I've decided to put together a thread on why the update to 1.6.x is taking so long, and what you can expect to see when we've updated.

Mojang, the developer of Minecraft released 1.6 long before it should have been released, instead of doing internal testing and releasing a fully bug-free version of the game they released an incomplete, extremely buggy version of the game. As such they have released many small bug fixes which makes it nearly impossible for the modding community to keep up with the releases.

Without the modifications that we use to keep our server safe many undesirable things would happen, such as houses catching on fire, entire forests burning down, bridges and ICs not working, etc. All of these things are available to our community through the heavy use of modifications.

We are also in the process of changing the way our entire server is run, changing from CanaryMod (formerly hMod), to CraftBukkit as our base modification. CraftBukkit is supported far more than CanaryMod and has many more mods which are updated far quicker. The process of transitioning is going to take some time as we need to transfer all Cuboids, Homes, Warps (used by admins), etc. over to the new system. Unfortunately many of these do not have a direct counterpart on CraftBukkit and therefore we need to figure out ways of transfering all of our data over so we don't have to manually setup all of the Cuboids again. Another part of this is setting up permissions, which is taking an extremely long time to setup, we currently have over 300 different permissions to setup and give to the different groups.

VIP+ & Veteran VIP+
We are adding two new groups to our server to reward members who donate on a regular basis. These groups will have access to three (3) /homes and will require a donation of $5 or more per month to stay in this group. Once your month runs out you will return to the VIP or Veteran VIP group respectively. Your homes that you set while you were a VIP+ / Veteran VIP+ member will be saved, but inaccessible while a normal VIP member until you become a VIP+ / Veteran VIP+ member again.

This group may have access to more commands in the future but currently is here to thank the people who help KoolSource to grow and keep running.

The KoolSource Wiki
There is currently a glitch with the built-in help system on the server so as an effective way of of providing support for in game commands, their uses, our rules, and other information about our server and how it is run will be able to be found on our Wiki. (Which is also currently under development and will be released with the server.

Live Map
We're adding a live updating map to the server which shows the location of the members playing on the server as well as updates to show changes in real-time. You can also use this to chat with players on the server.

Did you seriously just come here and register an account to accuse us of lying about canary being less supported and updating slower than bukkit? Last i checked Canary had just release 1.6.6 and got it fully supported about 5 days before 1.7.2 came out. Whereas bukkit was ready within a week of 1.66 coming out, and ready within hours of 1.7.2 being released.

Hopefully this clears up what we were talking about
